Last week of May (or at least the last days)... June is here already.  We still have a lot to do.  With the sun finally making a regular appearance, distractions are on the rise.  Please remind all of our students to stay on track for the best year ever.

Please join Ms. Wilkinson's Music Program for their final concert of the year.  This is the traditional outdoor concert (weather permitting) beginning at 6:30pm.

 
 

Thursday June 8, 2017 - Awards Night

MAY 30/17  KPU Registration Information Session @ McMath (reminder)

Grade 12 students...are you going KPU in September?  If so... plan to attend the upcoming 'Course Registration' information session.  Dominic Wan will be here to answer your questions.  This meeting will give you 'helpful hints' regarding the process of online course selection and registration.  See Ms. Bernard in the Career Centre to sign up for this session.  The meeting will be held during lunch on Tuesday, May 30th, in our Conference Room.

JUN 14/17    BCIT Trades Discovery Information Session

Are you interested in a career in the Trades, but not sure which Trade would be a good fit for you?  If so, consider the Trades Discovery programs (General or For Women).  These programs are designed to give participants the opportunity to sample the available trades and technical training at BCIT campuses. JUN 17/17   JIBC Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate Information Session

Attend a free information session to learn about the training involved to become a fire fighter and the necessary steps it takes to be hired by a Fire Department.  This event is an opportunity to tour the JIBC Maple Ridge campus where firefighter training takes place; have your questions answered by  faculty/staff, and learn about the Fire Fighting Technologies Certificate, which provides you with the academic credentials and the NFPA1001 certification you need to become a fire fighter.

The University of Regina is still open and accepting Application for Admission documents.  Students that apply to the U of R before June 30, 2017 will still be eligible to receive automatic entrance scholarships!

SCHOLARSHIP INFO

JUN 14/17- South Asian Family Association (SAFA) Scholarship deadline

The South Asian Family Association offers three scholarships in the amount of $1000 each in the following categories:

(1) Academic Excellence

(2) Excellence in Community Involvement

(3) Excellence in Fine Arts

In order to be eligible for a scholarship, a student must:  be a student of South Asian descent, be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident within the meaning of the Immigration Act, be enrolling in his/her first year of full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in Canada or abroad, and be completing/have completed grade 12 in a British Columbia high school. JUN 16/17 - BCSTA Jean Ciriani Scholarship for Communication – application deadline

This $1500 Scholarship recognizes a graduating BC student who has excelled at communications studies, and who has expressed an interest in using their communications skills in the support of public policy and education, and are enrolled at a public post secondary institution this fall. Summer STEP Program ~ current Grade 11 students

Are you currently completing your grade 11 year and wondering what to do this summer?  If you love Horticulture and Landscaping, you are invited to apply to work as a youth apprentice with the Richmond School District.  Applications for this Summer STEP program are available from Ms. Bernard in the Career Centre.  The deadline for Grade 11’s to submit applications to the School Board Office is Friday, June 9th at 3:30pm.
