You may have heard about the Climate Strike coming up this Friday. Global warming and its effects on our planet are a serious reality. Here at McMath, our Natural Club coordinates our recycling program – with the goal of keeping items out of landfills and reusing materials so that less energy is required to make brand new products. You may have seen the fencing around the south end of the South Gym.  We are installing a solar system to help capture heat and reduce the need for electricity to run our boilers. There is a lot more we can do.

Youth activists around the globe have been taking part in a movement to address the global climate crisis. Inspired by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, rallies referred to as Global Climate Strikes have been planned around the world to coincide with the United Nations Climate Action Summit this week in New York. Advocates around the planet are asking for people to participate in rallies on Friday, September 27, and some of you have indicated that they would like to attend the rally in Vancouver, which will occur in the afternoon. Student voice is important and we value your engagement. If you plan on attending the Climate Strike, we need to hear from your parents, please. They can phone, write us a note, or email.  We’ve posted a letter from our Superintendent on the school website about this.  Please note, the Climate Strike is in the afternoon,  the morning – we’ve got the Terry Fox run to look forward to in the morning!

Its Spirit Week! Come out and show some Wildcat spirit!! Today is Twin Day, Tomorrow is Bling Day, Thursday is Stripes & Flannel Day and, Friday is Terry Fox/Athletic Wear Day
