On April 17th, 1982, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms came into law. One of the most significant rights guaranteed under the Charter states: “Every citizen of Canada has the right to vote in an election of members of the House of Commons or of a legislative assembly…”. On Monday, Oct. 21st, Canadian citizens, 18 years and older, will elect the 43rd Parliament of Canada. While we students at McMath are not eligible to vote yet, we will have the opportunity to cast our vote through Student Vote on Wednesday, Oct. 16th for a candidate of our choice seeking election in Steveston-Richmond East. The results of our student vote will let the parties know what our thoughts are, as future electors of the Riding. Student voting will take place all day tomorrow in the library. Exercise your right to vote.
