Hey! Do you know what phantom energy is? Yes, phantom energy is the energy used by electronics that have a battery pack, a clock, or other internal brain that draws a small amount of energy even when they’re not being used. Okay, but why does that matter? Well, phantom energy can easily add up. Did you know that phantom energy accounts for up to 10% of a household’s electricity bill? No way! I’ll be sure to unplug unused electronics this winter!

Congratulations to the Juvenile Girls Basketball team for starting off their league play with a big win over Steveston-London on Tuesday! The team got off to a fast start and never looked back, eventually winning by a score of 41-16. The team was led offensively by Mirella B. and Susu Z. while the defensive efforts of Jessie H., Aleah K. and Sanam K. kept Steveston-London from making it a close game. Well done girls!

Congratulations to the Senior Girls basketball team for their win against McRoberts last night! The team went to 2-0 on the season with an 86-25 victory over the Strikers. The team used balanced scoring and a fast-paced game to cruise to the easy win. Andreas C., Emma B-T., Kee H., and Caitlin K. all scored in double figures and every player contributed offensively to the final score. Good luck to the team this week at their tournament in Langley!
