Thank you! The one-of-a-kind 2019-2020 school year is over. With all of the challenges of remote learning and technology platforms and lack of in-person time with teachers, you have done so well. We wanted to thank our students for staying engaged, reaching out when you needed help, and being so resilient in the face of change and adversity. We are so impressed.
Thank you, parents, for walking alongside us, supporting students with encouragement, a quiet place to work, and gentle nudging when needed. It’s been quite a journey.
And to our staff – you demonstrated your own life-long learning exploring new technology and developing authentic learning opportunities that could be taught remotely. All the best to the staff members who are leaving us, some to jobs in other schools as their temporary positions here ended, some to larger positions, some to pursue other interests or to retirement: Ms. J. Chen, Ms. Fensom, Ms. Im, Mr. Lam, Mr. Lui, Ms. Orr, Ms. Ritchie, Mr. Shin, Mr. Smythe, Ms. Starchuk, Mr. Tang, and Mr. Tsang. We’ll miss you.
Grads, you are an amazing group of young people who, we’re confident, will go on to change and improve our world. This is not the year-end we had hoped for or that you deserved at all, yet you have been so gracious and kind. We are very proud of you. Please come back when you can and tell us about your adventures. Congratulations!
To our returning students, stay tuned for more information in August. We have been working on possible plans including hybrid models with some in-school, some remote learning and need to see how things evolve over the next couple of months. We will always take our lead from Dr. Bonnie Henry to be as safe as possible. We’re hoping to see you all in person in September!
Now it’s on to summer and a well-deserved holiday time with family and friends. Continue to take care of yourself and others and have some fun!
Mrs. McFadyen, Ms. Goulas, and Mr. Ngo
