June is National Indigenous History Month and Pride Month. A time to celebrate the history, diversity, and contributions of Canadians who identify as Indigenous and/or members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.  One of the most important aspects of these two months of recognition is that they both focus on diversity. 

'Indigenous Peoples' is a term that describes hundreds of different nations and communities—each with its own culture, traditions, language, and perspectives. There is no ONE way to be Indigenous. 

Similarly, there is no ONE way to belong to an LGBTQ2S+ community.

The more we learn about ourselves as humans and the different ways we can express our identities, the more a term like 'LGBTQ2S+' is always changing and expanding. 

By highlighting the diversity of communities across Canada—and encouraging the exchange of stories and histories—we can continue to understand each other better. 

Our Leadership students are running the Grade 7 Orientation Day today. Please give a big Wildcat Welcome to our incoming Grade 8s who are here for a fun filled day! 

A reminder to all students interested in applying for the Costa Rica trip next year. Your application forms are due on Monday June 5th. Please make sure your teacher recommendation letter and your application are submitted to the office no later than the end of the school day on Monday. Thank you.

Hey Wildcats!  Interested in applying for UBC Sauder?  Business Club will be hosting a post-secondary information session where you can learn about UBC’s business school and necessary information for university applications.  The event will take place on June 6^th right after school in Ms. Xiao’s room B127.  For more information, check out our Instagram @mcmathbusinessclub and posters around the school to sign up.  We hope to see you there!

This is a reminder that all required student fees must be paid by the end of the school year.  Students who have purchased a yearbook must have all fees paid to receive it.  A list of students with outstanding fees has been posted on the office window.
