McMath's Summer Letter July 7th

July 7, 2023

Dear McMath Secondary Parents and Caregivers,

We hope everyone has transitioned to summer “mode” and finding time to relax and spend time with family members and friends. The office is still busy to prepare for the start of school on September 5th. The purpose of this email is to welcome our new Grade 8’s, provide a staffing update and share some information about the start of the school year and important dates.

While most of us are off vacationing, there is a lot of work that must be done to prepare the school for opening day. We would like to thank the amazing office and custodial crew who will tirelessly prepare the school all summer for opening day. Many district maintenance workers have also contributed time to ensure the building is ready to welcome all the staff and students. The office is open from 10am to 1pm weekdays. Please call the school first before arriving.

The spring staffing process has been completed for the next school year. We would like to thank the following staff for their service and dedication to the McMath school community and all the best in their new assignments:

Mr. Ngo (VP Cambie Secondary)                              Mr. Vernier

A huge welcome to the Class of “2028”! We are sure our new Grade 8’s are excited about the move to high school. To ease the nerves, make sure you attend the Grade 8 Open House on Wednesday, August 30, from 10 am to noon. This is an informal orientation and attendance is not mandatory.

We will have Leadership students helping the Grade 8’s to find their way around the building. Grade 8’s, you are now Wildcats, and you are now  #partofthePRIDE.

Welcome back to this year’s graduating class – the Class of “2024”. This year will be one of the best and the fastest year of your life. You will have numerous opportunities to plan for your future while working hard to achieve all your learning goals. I know you will all continue the trend from the last grad class to be leaders in our school and the community. You are also the leaders of the next generation beyond high school. Have a wonderful year and enjoy every moment! We look forward to celebrating your Grad year with our many grad events. The first couple of Grad events are: Grad Kickoff on September 21st and the Grad Boat Cruise on October 6th.

Parents and caregivers, we will be sending home Student Verification forms in September. Please ensure that all information is updated. Updated emails and phone numbers are critical to communicate as we do not mail information home. Any questions, first check our website https://mcmath.sd38.bc.ca/ for information, or call the main office or email mcmath@sd38.bc.ca. You may want to join our social media and download the MySchoolDay App. Kindly see the attached School Calendar below to keep track of important dates.

At the end of August, we will send another email home with the details of the first week of school.
