Good afternoon Grade 8 Parents and Caregivers:

  

The Grad Class of 2028 are settling into the routines of high school and are navigating the building with more confidence.  In the start-up message from the school, we informed Grade 8’s and parents/caregivers that our Grade 8 Activity Day is, WEDNESDAY, September 20^th, at WILDPLAY in Maple Ridge.  We are finalizing the details this week.  More information will be provided on September 18^th regarding buses, etc.

 

What is Wildplay?

 Wildplay is an outdoors adventure playground and they host elementary and high school students all the time.  The Grade 8’s will participate in teamwork activities to start off and work into low rope courses and can go onto higher courses.   Students will choose the level they want to “play”.  There will also be teamwork activities that help build cooperation.   When the students go through the park, Wildplay staff will ensure everyone is safe.  Students will be grouped into groups of 20 with one teacher and two Senior Leadership students to guide, mentor, and support them.  Please check their website at https://www.wildplay.com/maple-ridge/.  Please ensure students arrive at school before 7:50am on September 20^th, they will be returning to McMath approx. 3:30pm.  The main purpose of this activity day is to connect with other Grade 8’s, make new friends, and build their core competencies in an outdoor setting.  Wildplay is in a park type setting with lots of shade and some fields.  If the weather is not cooperative there are shelters and we will bring our school pop up tents.

·       Buses Depart to WildPlay @8:00am

·       Busses Arrive at Wildplay @9:15am

Return to McMath

·       Depart WildPlay @2:15pm

·       Arrive McMath approx. 3:30pm

 

What to Wear?

 Dress for the weather, we are going rain or shine!

·       Students have to wear active wear

·       SHOES: Wildplay will not allow students to participate if they are wearing; Crocs, Sandals, Flip Flops, etc. Students must have proper shoes (running shoes).

 

What to Bring? 

·       Backpack and extra clothing for change of weather

·       BAGGED Lunch – no access to microwave or fridges

·       School will provide snacks and juice boxes

·       A great attitude and prepare to make new friends and challenge yourself at your level!

·       Phones are not needed for these activities. Phones can stay at home or kept in backpacks during the day.

 

What is the Cost?

·       The fee per person is $15

·       We want all Grade 8’s to attend.  If your family is unable to pay this fee, please email or call Mr. Johnstone.

·       Any questions about School CashOnline, call the office

2.     WAIVER

Here is a step by step guide to completing your WildPlay waiver for parents:

Step 1: Click on link to open waiver page

Step 2: Fill in your own personal information (the first page is your information not your child’s).

Step 3: Where it says "Do you need to check-in any minors under 18 years old?", Select "Yes"

Step 4: Click “next”.

Step 5: Fill in your first child's information

Step 6: Where it says "Are you, [Your Name], participating?", Select "No" as you are only signing the waiver for your child to do an activity.

Step 7: If you have another child in Gr 8 that is attending; select “Add Another Minor”, if you do not, select “Next”

Step 8: A list of activities will appear. Please select the first time listed for the activity for your child

Step 9: After reading the agreement, click “I agree to these terms”.

Step 10: Read the second page and click “I agree to these terms” again.

Step 11: On the third page provide an electronic signature and select “Submit”.
