Social Justice 12 students would like to encourage McMath to celebrate Black History Month and will be sharing biographies of important African Canadians all February. 

Willie O’Ree was a hockey player from Nova Scotia who played a pivotal role in revolutionizing the hockey industry. As the first black man to play in the NHL, O’Ree made it his job to instill the hockey community with a more inclusive approach. To recognize his efforts, the annual Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award has been created in his honour to recognize individuals who impacted their community, culture, and society through hockey like O’Ree.

Get Hyped Wildcats! Next week, from February 12th to February 15th, Student Council is hosting another Spirit Week!  Dress up for Monochrome Monday, Band Tee Tuesday, on Wednesday We Wear Pink Day and Jersey Day on Thursday.  Show your school spirit and we can’t wait to see everyone’s outfits!
