Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the new school year. We are pleased to welcome all new and returning students and families to the Richmond School District.

On Tuesday, September 8, students and staff will return to classrooms across the district. We are also excited to welcome students and families to the new City Centre Elementary School on Odlin Road. This is a special moment for the City Centre community and for our district.

This year, we are launching the Richmond School District’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan. The plan was shaped with input from students, staff, families and community members. It will help guide our schools as we support student learning, well-being, equity and continuous improvement. Our goal is for every student to feel welcome, safe, connected, supported and inspired to do their best.

Families play an important role in student success. Your encouragement, involvement and partnership help children feel supported at school and at home. You can support your child’s learning by helping them attend school regularly, reading and talking together, setting regular routines for homework and rest, asking about what they are learning, and staying connected with teachers and school staff. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s school. We are here to work with you to support your child’s success.

Thank you for all you do to support your child’s learning. When families and schools work together, students are better supported and ready to do their best. We wish you and your family a joyful and successful school year.
