Ms. Carter is the School Career Information Advisor located in the R.A. McMath Counselling Centre who offers an abundance of resources and support to students. Ms. Carter provides career and educational planning information and advice to students regarding post-secondary options and is here to support you throughout the entire process.

Ms. Carter will be at R.A. McMath Secondary School on Tuesdays, Fridays & alternate Wednesdays.

Upcoming Scholarships for McMath Grade 12 Students

APR 20/25 The Kelly and Trevor Greene Scholarship for Leadership Deadline

The Kelly and Trevor Greene Scholarships for Leadership consist of $500 each, one for Steveston London, McMath and Hugh Boyd for the graduating class. The criteria are as follows:

to support a student showing community commitment and leadership, female or gender diverse

a minimum C+ average 

demonstrated financial need

Submit to scholarships@sd38.bc.ca a 500 word essay with the topic: “How your leadership and community involvement has prepared you for the future.

APR 22/25 Steveston Community Society Scholarship 5:00 PM Deadline

The Steveston Community Society provides an annual scholarship to each of their two catchment high schools – Steveston-London and R.A. McMath – to support a graduate who intends to pursue a post-secondary education in the field of recreation or similar program, and who best exemplifies the “Spirit of Steveston” by having a well-rounded record of service to the community.

A minimum of 30 volunteer hours for the Steveston Community Society from Grade 10-12

Demonstrates strong leadership at school and in the community

Demonstrates a strong history of volunteerism at school and in the community

Graduating from a Secondary School in June 2025 and proof of registration from a recognized Post Secondary Institution

Are planning a career in recreation or similar field to benefit the community

APR 16/25 Richmond Association for Montessori Scholarship 4PM Deadline

Richmond Association for Montessori Scholarship $500.00 Open to District Criteria:

Attended a Richmond District Montessori Program at Garden City, McKinney or Steves for a minimum of grades 4 through 7

Has demonstrated involvement in extracurricular activities and/or part-time work within the school and the community

Are graduating from a Richmond School District secondary school in June of 2025

Will pursue a post-secondary education and be registered in a post-secondary institution within 18 months of graduation (proof of registration will be required)

Is a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada and is ordinarily a permanent resident of Richmond • Complete application form

and 500-word statement describing how your Montessori education benefited your learning in secondary school and will help you in the years ahead.

APR 14/25 4:00 PM Bob Mukai Memorial Scholarship deadline to apply

$1000 – STUDIES IN INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
$1000 – STUDIES IN VOCAL MUSIC
OPEN TO RICHMOND SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENTS ONLY

Bob Mukai lived and worked in Richmond most of his life. He was an educator, both teacher and principal in many different schools in the Richmond school district. He supported and encouraged music in the school, both in band, choir and musical theatre at the elementary level.
Bob Mukai’s family would like this scholarship to be awarded to a well-rounded student who like Bob has a passion for music and would like to expand this passion in their post-secondary studies.
CRITERIA:
Active participation in school and/or community activities

• Demonstration of good citizenship within the school and community

• Where all other criteria are equal, financial need shall be considered

• These two scholarships may be used towards music training lessons - vocal and/or

instrumental

• Tuition fees towards studies in a Music Faculty
