This section outlines our school’s key areas of focus. It reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and responds to the evolving needs of our students. Whether centered on student engagement, social-emotional well-being, or academic growth, our focus guides our learning journey and informs the strategies we implement throughout the year.
| For the 2025-2026 school year our school’s learning focus is: | Literacy empowers students with the foundational skills needed to access, understand and communication information across all subjects. It fosters critical thinking, creativity, and lifelong learning essential for personal growth and active participation in society. Our learning focus is to strengthen critical literacy skills with a focus on our grade 8 students. |
| The data that supports the need for this school learning focus is: | This focus was determined based on scanning different sets of data including the Provincial Marking Monitoring Report for Grade 7 Literacy, the GLA 10 results, and a school survey of grade 8s and their teachers on literacy. The data revealed that our incoming grade 8s could use support with understanding text, organization and structure of writing, building a stronger vocabulary, decoding, reading difficult text and following instructions. As such, our focus is on developing literacy skills with our grade 8s and following them throughout their high school years to monitor progress. |

We will be looking to see if there are improvements when we compare the data from early in the year to the end of the school year. |
