This past weekend, 10 students represented McMath at the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair at UBC. This is the largest high school science fair in BC, and second largest in Canada. The competition was stiff - there were 215 amazing projects from almost 300 students across the region in areas of STEM ranging from health sciences to engineering and everything in between.
This year, McMath took home some amazing awards! Jacob Dimaano won the Vancouver Mycological Society Award for his project on mushroom growth conditions, Eric M won Honorable Mention in the Intermediate Physics and Chemistry division AND a SFU Faculty Award for exceptional scientific process and curiosity. Alicia W and Michelle Cao won silver in the Intermediate Engineering division for their project on using machine learning to detect thyroid cancer. Shoutout to McMath's Jiseok S and St. George's School's Max Wang for their silver medal in the Intermediate Health Sciences division.
Congratulations to ALL participants on your hard work and for making McMath proud!!
