Dear Grade 10 & 11 Students,

If you remember your Grade 8 year, you’ll remember that the transition to a large high school can sometimes be overwhelming. To help support our incoming Grade 8s, we will be starting a new initiative for the 2026-2027 school year with a McMath Link Crew.  The Link Crew is a group of senior McMath student volunteers who will help support our incoming 8s for the 2026-2027 school year through organized mini-events and regular connections. Link Leaders are motivators and leaders who help Grade 8s discover what is takes to be a McMath Wildcat. Leaders will help Grade 8s be successful both socially and academically during their transition to High School.  

The vision for the McMath Link Crew is to provide both academic and social support throughout the school year. Academically the Link Leaders will introduce some basic strategies that will contribute to Grade 8 High School success in mini-sessions that are organized throughout the year. Socially the Link Leaders also facilitate interactions during the year. These activities allow the Grade 8’s and their Link Crew Leaders to be connected and help Grade 8s become part of the McMath community.  Our motto is: ‘Wildcats Helping Wildcats.’

We are currently accepting applications for this amazing volunteer experience.  The application involves filling out an online application (see link below) as well as a teacher recommendation (see attached). The reference is confidential and must be handed in to Ms. Vaughan directly by the nominating teacher. Successful applicants will be contacted in June.

Deadline for applications is Friday, May 29^th at 11:00pm.

NOTE:  Reference Forms must also be submitted BY THE TEACHER to Ms. Vaughan by Friday, May 29th. References are confidential and must be sent directly from the teacher to Ms. Vaughan.
