During Black Excellence Day and Black History month, the accomplishments of Black Canadians are recognized and celebrated. One of these Canadians is Violet King. She was the first black person to obtain a law degree in Alberta and became Canada’s first black female lawyer in 1954. Especially brave considering the times, Violet publicly spoke about the challenges that Black people and women face everyday in Canada. She also expressed her hope for the future: that opportunities will be given by merit rather than a person’s race or gender.

There is a list posted on the Office window of students who have not yet paid for their Yearbook. Please check the list, and if you think that you have paid for a yearbook, speak to the Business Assistant at her window.

Students looking to make any corrections to their schedules for Semester 2 can fill out the online Course Corrections Form found on the school website. There are QR codes that can be found outside the main and counselling offices. Deadline for submitting a form is February 6^th. Your counsellor will review requests and contact students regarding any changes.

Grads! This is a reminder that your Winter Formal is coming up on January 26^th. Please note that you must have completed your first two Capstone 

assignments before being eligible to attend. Anyone with an outstanding assignment by Monday, January 23^rd, will not be allowed to attend, and your ticket will be refunded to you.
