Upcoming Important Dates for Grads of 2023

Good afternoon Parents/Caregivers and the Grads of 2023,

In the past few weeks, we have had a few questions about some of the details about the many upcoming “Grad” celebrations organized by McMath with the Grad Council and the DAG Committee.

With the May weather heating up, the Grads are getting excited for many celebrations.  That excitement can also distract the Grads with their studies in the last eight weeks.  Please encourage your Grad to engage and attend right to the end!

We have organized a one-page information sheet for the upcoming important Grad 2023 events.  The times, locations, costs, deadlines, etc are included, please find it attached.  More detailed information sheets may be sent out closer to some of the event dates.

All of the celebrations have had significant increase in costs.  We have done our best to keep the costs down, but in this time of inflation, it is difficult.  If any family of a Grad cannot afford any of these celebrations, please contact Mr. Johnstone by email and we can help cover part of the costs.  We want ALL students to be included in the celebrations.

One reminder, ALL Grads and their parents/caregivers signed a letter early in the year regarding the behaviour expectations.  The Grad Expectation Letter is attached to this email.  Our Grads were exceptional at the Winter Formal Dance and have been wonderful all year.   However, I am asking ALL Grad families to have another conversation about the expectations for our Grads.  If students violate the expectations, the student will face various consequences and the student will not be able to participate in other celebrations.

We have a new feature this year for the Valedictory.  We are excited to announce that Artona will be able to live stream the ceremony.  This will allow family members around the world to watch their Grad “walk the stage”.  This also allows others who are not able to attend due to health matters or other circumstances.

Sincerely,

Mr. Johnstone, Mr. Ngo, & Ms. Naidu
