Course Planning for 2024-2025

2024-2025 Course Selection - Due February 22, 2024

All students in Grades 8-11 have received their course selection forms and have had their program planning information session with counsellors on February 14th, our Conference Day.

Parents are encouraged to visit https://mcmath.sd38.bc.ca/students/program-planning to help support their child in choosing the most appropriate courses for the upcoming school year.

Timetabling (the number of sections of each course) is based on the course requests made by students in February.  It is essential that students consider the task of choosing courses as a major responsibility because the choices that they make determine the master timetable. Requests for each course are tallied and that information is used to determine how many blocks to build for each course.  Courses with too few student requests will be cancelled.  Students who have requested a course that gets cancelled will then be programmed into their alternate elective choice.Once the master timetable is built, course changes become much more difficult; thus, it is very important that the selection of courses be done carefully.

All students in grades 8 – 11 are expected to take eight courses.  Students in grade 12 may choose a study block.  Any exceptions to these guidelines must be approved by school administration.

Signed Program Planning forms are due by 9am February 22, 2024 to the Counselling Centre.

Students must also enter their courses into MyEd by February 22, 2024. (See attached instructions)
