Social Justice 12 students would like to encourage McMath to celebrate Black History Month and will be sharing biographies of important African Canadians all February. 

Today we are commemorating Aubrey Drake Graham, otherwise known as Drake, because he is one of the most influential artists in the black community. He is a Canadian rapper, singer, songwriter, actor, and entrepreneur and he won a lot of awards including five Grammys. Drake has helped the Black community by giving money to charities, supporting education projects, and helping people in need. He funded scholarships, backed non-profit organizations, and promoted initiatives to improve opportunities for Black individuals.

A huge congrats to one of our McMath Debater, Annie Z. in grade 11 for winning Top Speaker at the 50th Harvard National Speech & Debate Tournament this past weekend! Annie placed 1st out of 134 debaters in the open division! Way to go Annie!

Wildcats!  Get ready to step onto the red carpet because our Night in Hollywood school dance is just around the corner!  Mark your calendars for Tuesday, March 12th from 6:00-8:00 pm.  The dance in open to grades 9, 10, and 11.  Tickets are $5.00 and will be on sale in front of the office at lunch until March 6th.

Do you love laughing outside with your friends?  Would you like to spend more time in nature, canoeing, rock climbing, and hiking?  Think about joining McMath's Strathcona Park trip this May.  Learn more at our informational meeting at lunch on Wednesday, February 28th in room C212.  See Ms. Phillpotts for more information.  This trip is suitable for all grades!

Attention Junior Rugby Players:
ALL players, pick up the four forms at the office on the table.  These forms need to be completed and given to the main office by Thursday, February 29th.

Attention Senior Boys Rugby Players, if you want to play rugby this year, please attend a meeting at lunch on Tuesday, February 27th, in Mr. Milholm’s room. Meeting will start at 12:55 pm and will take 5 minutes.
 
Track and Field athletes, there will be a mandatory meeting today at lunch in the north gym. Coaches will be there to talk to you about the upcoming season. 

Attention all past and present Leadership students, interested in gaining more volunteer hours over Spring Break? Come to Mr. Hass’ room A105 to learn more about the annual Easter event at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery.

A huge congratulations to McMaths Improv team who competed last night in the first round of the Canadian Improv Games semi-finals. They performed amazingly and represented our school well, demonstrating quick wit and encouragement for each other and all the other competing teams. After a long night of performing, they placed 4th in their heat.  Congratulations Improv Team!!!
