Student Notices February 26, 2024

The last day to order yearbooks is fast approaching.  Don’t miss out!  The last day to order is Thursday, February 29th.

Social Justice 12 students would like to encourage McMath to celebrate Black History Month and will be sharing biographies of important African Canadians all February.

Today we are recognizing one of our own: McMath grad, Camryn Rogers. She is an exceptional hammer throw track and field athlete, winning 5th place in the Olympics and a gold medal in the recent World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth games. Those who remember her at McMath also talk about her humble and kind nature.

Digital Detox Day – March 1:
Smartphones and computers have given us many good things. Constant connection to the internet means that we have access to an immense amount of information, we can connect with people who are far away from us, and there are apps for everything that helps make our lives easier. However, this also comes with an array of negative consequences. We forget to connect with people in real life, we are always worried about making our lives look perfect on social media, and we sleep less. Technology can become a real addiction! Even 24 hours away from our phones can have many benefits, your stress will reduce, there are physical benefits with Tech-Neck pain and sore eyes.  Most importantly it will improve your mental health.

On Friday, March 1, we are asking everyone to keep their phones at home or turn them off and keep them in your locker or backpack.  Let’s be present with the people around you and enjoy our Digital Detox Day on March 1.
