Student Notices February 27, 2024

Wildcats!  Tomorrow is Pink Shirt Day.  We encourage everyone at McMath to wear pink to celebrate our PRIDE community where everyone belongs.

Social Justice 12 students would like to encourage McMath to celebrate Black History Month and will be sharing biographies of important African Canadians all February. Today we’re recognizing Richmond School District’s own superintendent, Christopher Usih.

Mr. Usih is an award-winning educator who holds a master's degree in education and undergraduate degrees in mathematics and computer science.  Before coming to Richmond, he led educators in Calgary and Toronto.

Digital Detox Day – March 1: Smartphones and computers have given us many good things. Constant connection to the internet means that we have access to an immense amount of information, we can connect with people who are far away from us, and there are apps for everything that helps make our lives easier. However, this also comes with an array of negative consequences. Technology can become a real addiction! On Friday, March 1, we are asking everyone to keep their phones at home or turn them off and keep them in your locker or backpack.  Let’s be present with the people around you and enjoy our Digital Detox Day on March 1.

A huge congratulations to the members of the McMath Ethics Bowl team, who achieved all-time-best results, placing second and fourth place in the province at the SFU Ethics Bowl this past Saturday. McMath now goes to Winnipeg to represent BC at the Ethics Bowl National Championships in May! Congratulations on this historic win!
