Tomorrow is Chinese New Year, the beginning of the year of dragon. 
The Lunar New Year, also known as the “Spring Festival” in Chinese, is a very important festival in many countries in Asia, such as China, Japan, Vietnam, and Korea. Nowadays, people from all over the world celebrate this special occasion. Traditional dishes, such as dumplings, dim sum, and rice cake are very popular. People also enjoy the New Year parade, lion dance and red pocket during the celebration. We wish you “新年快乐“，“万事如意”， “恭喜发财”,  “龙年大吉”! Happy Chinese New Year! 
 
Social Justice 12 students would like to encourage McMath to celebrate Black History Month and will be sharing biographies of important African Canadians all February. 

Carrie Best was an African Canadian human rights activist, journalist, publisher, and broadcaster born in New Glasgow, Canada in 1903. In 1963, Carrie published her own newspaper called “The Clarion” and became known as being the first black owner and publisher of a newspaper in Nova Scotia. She contributed to raising awareness and helping end segregation and discrimination towards African Canadians across the country.

Hey Wildcats!  The Superbowl is this Sunday which means that the Costa Rica trip will be collecting your bottles all next week from the 12th to the 16th.  Please bring us your bottles and cans to help us raise money to help kids in Costa Rica!
