Student Notices May 6, 2024

May 6-12 is Mental Health Week. This initiative aims to increase awareness and support for individuals who face mental health challenges. This year, the theme is compassion, highlighting the significant role that kindness and connection play in the healing process.

Yesterday was Red Dress Day.  In recognition of this BCFP12 students have posted all 94 of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action on lockers in Upper C wing. Take a moment to read, observe and make a connection!

Wildcats, we are having a Spring McMath Clothing Sale!  Check the McMath website, Instagram or QR code outside the office on the display board.  Orders are direct with the company, NOT School Cash Online.  Deadline to order is Monday, May 13th with delivery in early June.  Get in the spirit and don’t miss out!

Attention Grade 11 students interested in Humanitarian work! It is about that time that we begin taking applications for the Spring 2025 Costa Rica Trip. If you are interested in fundraising, learning about new cultures, practicing your Spanish, doing rewarding work in another country, then you should attend an information session on May 14th in Room 12137 (previously B130) (Ms. Schiefer’s room) during PLT. This is a mandatory first meeting to get information and the necessary applications. If you cannot attend, please inform Ms. Schiefer or Mr. Jackson so that you can make other arrangements. Current Grade 10 students are welcome to attend as well, however, more often it is Grade 12 students who are chosen for the trip. So, to recap: Tuesday May 14th during PLT in B130, Ms. Schiefer’s room for those interested in the Costa Rica Humanitarian Trip.

A reminder for the Junior Ruby Team we have our practice tomorrow at 3:15 pm and our last home game on Wednesday, kick off at 4pm.

A big shout out to the McMath Ethics Bowl team, who did BC proud at the National Ethics Bowl in Winnipeg this past week, coming in an amazing top 10 in Canada!  Congratulations of this historic showing!

Grads, this is a head’s up that if you are interested in being this year’s class Valedictorian, Historian or Poet, nomination forms will be available in the office by Thursday morning. Please note that there will be a quick turn-around to get your applications in. Application forms will be due next week. Please keep an eye on your emails for more information.
