Mr. Johnstone's message to the Grads of 2024

June 10th, 2024

Good afternoon Grads and their Proud Parents & Caregivers,

Our staff have been working hard to prepare for the 2024 Valedictory Ceremony this Wednesday.  This is one of the best days of the school year!

A few reminders for Wednesday, June 12th

4:00pm            Grads arrive, gather and take photos

5:45pm            Grads Line up at the RBC Cinema

6:30pm            Ceremony starts

Please ensure you have your tickets, and Grads are dressed in their cap and gown.

Please find a more detailed list attached of the timeline.

For those who are watching the Livestream of the Valedictory Ceremony, we will receive the website link sometime tomorrow.  We will post the Livestream link on our website and email grads and their parents/caregivers when it is available on the school website.

For the last several, we have been speaking with the Grads about their celebrations.  We want the Grads of 2024 to celebrate and make sure everyone is respectful and safe at parties and/or celebrations.

Last year the “Kidnapping” tradition went too far and caused issues in our community with extremely inappropriate signs and disrespectful attire.

We have been discussing with the grads that the kidnapping tradition has to change, to one that aligns with the values of the school and the Richmond School Board.

Grads are aware that if they participate in celebrations that are not appropriate, they may lose their opportunity to attend the Dinner/Dance & DAG. We encourage them to celebrate in a respectful manner and follow our school's PRIDE guidelines.

Any questions, please call or email, mcmath@sd38.bc.ca or jjohnstone@sd38.bc.ca.

Mr. Johnstone, Mr. Banta, & Ms. Naidu
