Ms. Carter is your go-to person for any questions regarding your transition to post-secondary, providing career and educational planning information and advice to support you throughout the entire process. APR 17/26 SD38 2026 CUPE 716 Deadline
If you have a child who is graduating from Secondary School in 2026, your child may wish to apply for a scholarship from your union, CUPE Local 716. This year we have a total of four (4) $1000 scholarships available for the children of CUPE 716 members: two for Academic, one for Trades, and one for Fine Arts. 
To apply, please make a copy of the Application Form which accompanies this message. Complete the application and mail or deliver the completed form to the union office, together with these two items only: 
A sealed Diploma Verification Report (if the school is on MyEd) or a sealed transcript of marks and the most recent report card (if the school is not on MyEd)  a cover letter.

APR 14/26 Bob Mukai Memorial Scholarship Application 4PM Deadline
Bob Mukai lived and worked in Richmond most of his life. He was an educator, both teacher
and principal in many different schools in Richmond. He supported and encouraged music in
the school, both in band, choir and musical theatre at the elementary level. He himself was
involved in music at a young age when one of his teachers encouraged him to sing in a Festival.
All through his life he participated in singing, both in the Vancouver Bach Choir, Richmond
Chorus and various Church choirs. He enjoyed all types of music including Rock and Roll, Folk
music (the music of his Era) and Classical music to name just a few. All his life he appreciated
and supported young people of any age developing their talents and expressing
themselves through their love of music.
The family of Bob Mukai would like this scholarship be awarded to a well-rounded student who
like Bob has a passion for music and would like to expand this passion in their post-secondary
studies. 
These two scholarships may be used towards:
1. Music training lessons – vocal and/or instrumental
2. Tuition fees towards student in a Music Faculty

The family of Dorothy Ross would like this scholarship be awarded to a wellrounded student who was adopted into a family.
Looking for students who are:

Bert & Great Badminton Scholarship - 6 Scholarships - $1,000 for minimum of two male and two female.
BC Dairy Scholarship - 2 - $1,000 Scholarships for one male and one female
Molten Scholarships - 6 - $1,000 Scholarships for three male and three female
Please access application form and choose up to 2 scholarships if you meet the criteria

For students graduating Grade 12 from Steveston London, McMath, and Hugh Boyd high schools.​ Each school will have one $500 scholarship awarded.

Scholarship eligibility criteria: 

  • demonstrated community commitment, support, or leadership
  • woman or gender diverse
  • a minimum C+ average 
  • demonstrated financial need​

To apply, submit a 500 word essay about “how your leadership and community involvement has prepared you for the future” to scholarships@sd38.bc.ca.

Awards to be announced at the Graduation Valedictory Ceremony for your school. Kelly will present the scholarship to the successful recipients.
