Evidence Post Feb 2024

Evidence Post February 2024– McMath School School Story

Our Evidence Post is focusing on our commitment to Build Curiosity using student voice.  In December, we hosted our first McMath Student Voice Forum during PLT.  The Student Voice Facilitators guided the questions that were created.  The focus for the student voice forum was to learn about McMath students’ experiences at schools. The questions or guiding conversation prompts were:

Reflect on YOUR experience at McMath Secondary School …

  1. Share and describe a positive experience you had at McMath
  2. What do the adults need to know to make your experience better?
  3. What can the adults do to make you feel connected?
  4. We often share that WE are all Wildcats.  What do you think it means to be a Wildcat?  How should Wildcats act?  Describe the behaviours of a Wildcat?

Other than the Student Voice Facilitators who led the table talk, we had 35 students, from Grade 8 to 12 who were randomly selected.  The Principal and Vice-Principals invited the students to attend the Student Voice Forum.

To create our evidence, student voice participants used post it notes for sharing their response about their experiences at McMath.  The facilitators summarized the information from the post-it notes to the posters below.
