Career Life Connections & Capstone

Students at McMath complete Career Life Connections 12 (2 credits) in their Grade 11 year and Capstone (2 credits) in their Grade 12 year through Connexions class and Conference Day sessions.

The Capstone Project is part of Career Life Connections. Students will plan, design, document, create, and present a Capstone Project in a video format. The Capstone Project is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning in a particular topic they are interested in learning about. This student- centered approach allows individuals to personalize their learning in an area that they are passionate about. Students are to invest at least 25 hours towards completing their Capstone Project. 

It is mandatory for all students to complete a Capstone in order to receive a Career Life Connections course credit. This is combined with CLC 12 assignments completed in grade 11 to make up the 4 required credits for CLC 12. In addition, students are also required to complete 30 Hours of Work/Volunteer Experience. 

All CLC & Capstone assignments will be posted and to be submitted via Microsoft Teams.

Deadlines for CLC 12 - Capstone:

• Friday, October 18, 2024: Assignment 1 - Capstone Proposal
• Monday, December 2, 2024: Assignment 2 - Progress Check & Mentor Log
• Monday, February 18, 2025: Assignment 3 - Progress Check & Work Experience Form
• Monday, April 28, 2025: Assignment 4 - Final Capstone Project & Complete Mentor Log
• Monday, June 23, 2025: Capstone Showcase Presentation
