Dry After Grad
(DAG)
Welcome Parents!
What is the Dry After Grad (DAG)?
The Dry After-Grad is an all-night celebration for graduating McMath students organized and supervised by parents. The event is intended to acknowledge our graduates’ high school completion in a safe, inclusive and fun environment. The DAG event is the last time Grade 12 students will all be together before they leave secondary school and embark on new adventures. DAG has been a McMath tradition since the 1990s and students look forward to this event as a highlight of their graduation festivities. Typically, 200 students attend each year.
This ticketed event includes entertainment, music, a variety of food and drinks, activities, games, and fun. Attendance is optional, however, graduates can only attend the DAG if they attend the Grad Dinner & Dance event immediately preceding the DAG. The DAG event only happens if parents volunteer to plan and host the event.
Why is DAG important?
Graduation night has long been associated with high-risk and illegal behaviours that can harm students and their communities. The main goal is to provide a safe alcohol, drug, substance, vape, tobacco free alternative on grad night and to send a message that alcohol and drugs are not essential to have FUN. Prohibition is strictly enforced at the event.
Where is the DAG hosted?
The DAG is held in the McMath school rotunda and various wings throughout the school.
When is the DAG?
Directly following the Grad Dinner & Dance event until 5:00 am.
